EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR as a therapy model began with the inclusion of eye movements as a critical component for the process, due to bilateral stimulation (BLS). Over time, research has shown that other forms of BLS are just as effective. In my practice, many clients prefer to have their eyes closed during processing. We work together to forms of BLS that work for them.
Some of the benefits (as provided anecdotally) include:
significantly reduced physiological responses to situations and relationships that produce anxiety
